Babylon 5, new series, new rpg?

OK so Babylon 5 is getting a reboot, behind a paywall of course so that'll hurt the audience, and I'm kinda glad for it, I mean I love the fact it's getting a new run but hate the paywall.

I just recently saw the last B5 project, B5 the Lost tales, which only got one ep sadly.

I recall b5 had a rpg that had a limited run, so I was wondering if they will re-release it or if they'll do a whole new one.

If you're interested in b5 would you want a Re release of tge original rpg or a whole new one? If you want a new one who would you want to see do it and with what system?

I really don't like d20 so I'd hope it isn't done with that, maybe FFG could do a good one.

Babylon 5 is awesome.

There were at least four versions of the RPG. The Babylon Project, a '90s RPG from Chameleon Eclectic with its own system. And two editions of Babylon 5 the RPG, by Mongoose, using the d20 system. Then Mongoose published the Universe of Babylon 5, which used the Traveller system.

Of those, I think Traveller would work way, way better than d20. That said, d20 and D&D are astronomically more dominant now than they were in the d20 glut, so the chances of any new game being something other than 5E compatible are approaching zero. Or, even if they do make a non-d20 game, they've inevitably put out a 5E-compatible version within a few months/years.

Didn't FFG lose their RPG department? I'm guessing a B5 game would likely have to be done by someone else.

edit to add a linky:
Asmodee moved the RPGs from FFG to Edge Studio. Think they rehired some of the people there and they still make rpgs, just unlucky that the pandemic hit and made it take a lot longer than they had anticipated to get things up and running.

Kind of - they had to hand off all their RPG IP's to another Asmodee subsidiary - Edge Studios, perpetrators of the travesty that is Adventures in Rokugan... The bankers who bought apparently felt the multiple subsidiaries with overlapping areas of endeavor were a fiscal inefficiency. One book in, and I want the bankers tortured for a few hours by Señor Torquemada. So Edge has Star Wars, Genesys, End of the World, and the old 90's TI RPG. As well as their own existing product lines.

I know a lot of folk want the Genesys version of TI, but I'm fine with the old BRP Knockoff version... 'cause I have a copy.

I thought Adventures in Rokugan was rated very well in terms of mechanics?

The mechanics are irrelevant when it totally runs 180° from the setting's trope-set.

It may be a decent set of classes (and I won't even grant that - the added complexity of the new combat options is shudder-worthy), but it actively speaks against the expected playstyles of L5R. It's about individual quests and heroics, outside the scope of the rokugani cultures; L5R is about duty, honor, and conformity while seeking glory and positive reputation. It never mentions the most common L5R campaign trope - magistrates. It makes all the clans one set of mods, and in fact, goes full-on Tasha's with the "pick your modifiers" naughty word. L5R is about embracing the oriental motifs, especially the Samurai era ones; AIR explicitly calls that wrong play.

Ok, so it's the spiritual successor of the previous D&D 3.5 and AD&D versions. It makes sense that they wouldn't put out a 5e book, then demand the players abandon the core pillars of 5e play.
