WotC WotC needs an Elon Musk

Giving the benefit of the doubt, there's still some issues.

WotC shouldnt be catering to Hardcore Gamers, at least not primarily or any more. They did this with their first few adventures (most of them in 5e being homages to classic adventures to appeal to long time fans).

There are wonderful TTPRGs out there catering to those of us who consider themselves hardcore gamers, but we need a giant casual flagship to draw in new people (oNE OF US ONE OF US) and WotC fills that role. I dont agree with everything they do, but I firmly believe we are all benefiting.

Content creators have a built in audience to reach.
Players can find more games to suit their needs.
DMs have more players than ever (and more chances to show off new games).

When it comes to setting products they should be focused on hardcore fans and quality, that doesn't mean you don't have beginner and other products to appeal new fans/casuals, the setting books are where appealing to the hardcore fans is most important, because that buzz and excitement is what will draw the casuals to them. It's still not an all or nothing situation, but at minimum the settings have to be functional and not doing things to needlessly pissing off hardcore fans (like breaking up Ravenlofts Core was completely needless anatognising Ravenloft fans).

.... and that is an Elon Musk type of guy? who overpaid more than 10 billion dollars for a non lucrative company, and then got to tank it's stock price even more?

Temp pains for a long term goals, like Zaslov is having to do (not that I agree wth all Zaslov's choices either, but I get his basic vision).

So this is what it's really about? A desire for WotC to cater to you as a member of the "hardcore crowd" of fans? Hard pass on that toxic gatekeeping nonsense.

Nothing points to being long term goals to what Musk is doing on twitter. It's not just us saying that, it's the market, it's the sponsors, it's the tech industry. Your whole premise here is flawed and if I can be honest, a little gatekeepy. All that about "the casuals" is a really bad take. The whole success of 5e was catering to casuals and groing the hobby as a whole. A lot of the great third party companies that exist today are only viable because WotC targets the casuals.

I normally enjoy discussing things with you here, but this take is just so really bad...

I may be bitter because I paid full price at Blackwell's Bookshop, some enormous amount of money. It's a lot cheaper on amazon. Also if I hadn't already had a much more detailed 3PP book I might not have minded the generic dragon stats.
You feel how you feel. One question on that book (Book of Dragons") you mentioned. Does it have idea/stats or mechanics for spell casting dragons.?

Wait, you say they need to make new settings, and then we you are told they are making new settings you say they shouldn't make new settings because they will just be terrible? What do you want?
I'm guessing he wants winner settings with good art! :D Although there is already a LOT of that out there from major Kickstarter 3PPs, not just Kobold Press.
