D&D Movie/TV There's A New Trailer For D&D: Honor Among Thieves

A brand new trailer for the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons movie has just been released! The movie comes out March 31st. This trailer very much highlights the tongue-in-cheek nature of the movie and is filled with one-liners. The trailer also gives us a good luck at the Red Wizards of Thay, along with the mimic, the owlbear, and other iconic D&D monsters.

That scene could be taken from half of my D&D games.

I think this tone is spot-on for how D&D is actually played at most tables, including the one guy who wishes everyone would stop with the clever quips.

"Gamers" don't want to admit their game isn't an epic journey that would make Tolkien weep but just exactly this movie

At any rate, back to the trailer, just complete mad, home-game session feel throughout the entire thing. I can almost see the Nat20s and Nat1s on the table.

Overall, it looks good, visually. Probably better than the first trailer. More recognizable monsters in play.

Dialog-wise, though, it felt weaker. There were a couple good moments, but also a couple "Hollywood thinks this cringe is funny" moments.

I get less excitement from watching this trailer than the first one. Pretty sure that's separate from the OGL issue. I'll likely watch it on streaming at some point in the future, but that's about as motivated as it gets for me.
