Mando season 3

Something to consider: Moff Gideon has a way of bypassing Mandalore’s magnetic interference since he was able to communicate with both Elia Kane and the Shadow Council from his secret base, and he was aware of the Mandalorian fleet in orbit.
Most likely explanation: they forgot. Or took it as read that building a base down there allowed you to break through the interference and won't explain it.
I also want to know how the Mandalorians will have enough jet pack fuel to fly all the way up to the fleet when they clearly didn’t have enough fuel to chase after the raptor thing. (They’re also going to have to fly through that storm.)
Yeah it seems like they're fuelled by plot-convenience if that works out.
As an aside, I note that the show seems to have dropped all the mystical stuff. No one refers to jet packs as “Rising Phoenixes”, and we haven’t seen any of Din’s “whistling birds” in a long time. (They would have come in handy in the fight against the super-commandos!)
That was a bizarre fight as it seemed like none of the Mandalorians used their tricks - no flamethrowers, no "whistling birds", I don't think they even used their grapples (though maybe I forgot?). Even though a little later all the Imperial Mandalorians use their grapples and Din uses his flamethrower.

Equally bizarre was them leaving Pas Vizsla alone to fight those guys and him winning! It was a poorly directed scene too, because as they didn't make it seem particularly surprising that he did, it just made the rest of the Mandalorians look like chumps (once more, adding to the massively tally of chump-ness). Seems like if they'd just stuck around they could probably have handled three Praetorian Guard, too - they're not Force-users - their armour is basically blaster-proof but there's a chasm right there and a bunch of guys with jetpacks and grapples.

She did say be careful with the whistling birds. He may not have any left.

I did wonder that though in that fight.

One of them did use a grapple on a super-commando early in the fight.

It was a bit silly how many jetpack-wearing fighters on both sides were vulnerable to being knocked off a ledge.

Also, it seems obvious to me that Gideon is evoking Maul’s brief tenure as ruler of Mandalore with that spiky helmet of his.

Also: who were the spies plural that the episode title was referring to? There was Elia Kane on Coruscant at the beginning, but who else? All I can think is that the Mandalorians must have a traitor in their ranks because Gideon already knew that Bo-Katan had the darksaber again.

A lot of people think it was the Mandalorians still living on the planet. No way they could not know about Gideon's base being built and they happened to lead everyone right to it. Others are trying to accuse the Armorer of being a spy and working with Gideon because their helmets are sort of similar.

Yeah, the Mandalorian survivors could be in league with Gideon. It does seem unbelievable that they wouldn’t have known about Gideon’s base. The Armorer, though, seems like too much of a stretch.

Hopefully we’ll find out for sure next week.

So some thoughts. Grogu in IG12 picked up one of those fruits from Lothal in Rebels.

Gideons clone project may be independent of Palpatine's.

So looks like they're redoing the Heir to the Empire arc. Thrawns coming back, clones, and Bad Batch has Mount Tantiss.

Palpatine might not be alive yet. Snoke should be.

Gideons armor had horns so does the Armorer. Traitor?

Yup. That was a meiloorun!

Yeah, that seems pretty obvious. For starters, he evaded Hux's question about using Pershing to do his own cloning experiments on Nevarro, but then at the end, he was bragging about combining the best of the Jedi, the cloners, and the Mandalorians. I think he was suggesting that he's working on making Force sensitive clones of himself that he will put in dark trooper suits made from beskar alloy. (I guess Luke showed him that people in suits are superior to energy-intensive droids after all.)

I also got the sense that he wants to be ruler of the galaxy himself. He sees Thrawn as a rival, and he probably doesn't want to wait for Palpatine to be resurrected either. He wants to remake the Empire in his own image, not Palpatine's.

Having just rewatched this episode with my girls this morning, I also got the sense that Gideon is not a Mandalorian like some people are suggesting. I think he's just a Mandalorian fanboy of sorts. If he had been one of Maul's loyalists, I think Bo-Katan would know and would mention it. Also, the way he talks about Mandalorian culture makes it sound to me like it's not his culture.

I never read those books, so I'm not familiar with that storyline. I'll have to consult Wookieepedia.

Palpatine is definitely around, but I suspect he might be in a similar situation to the one Voldemort was in at the start of the Harry Potter series. He hasn't got a proper body of his own yet, but his consciousness is there. At this point in the timeline, he'll be busy building up Snoke's imagined backstory and puppeting him into position to usurp control of the First Order once it arrives on the scene. (That and directing Hux and the Sith Eternal cultists working on Project Necromancy.)

I dunno. The Armorer's horns are different. They're shorter, stubbier and in a single row -- like a tiara. The spikes on Gideon's helmet looked more like a crown, which is in keeping with the helmets of Maul's loyalists as well.

EDIT: As an aside, I loved how the Armorer invited the Nite Owls to a feast that ended up being the Nite Owls eating while her own people just watched.

Sone of these plots might sound familiar. Legends.

Emperor dies, Thrawn spends 5 years in the unknown regions. He returns and reactivate Mount Tantis cloning facility. Finds a dark Jedi there and allies him. Pelleaon is his loyal 2IC.

Then he goes to find a list fleet, uses clobes ad crew/soldiers.

And then does a general attack against the NR.

OK. That sounds interesting enough.
