My cousin has a good friend who has been convicted of murder. I met the guy once and he was pretty cool didnt know anything about his past... Now, im kind of shaking a bit because his story does not seem legit. It will be on 20/20 tonight. Dont know why I had to post this but just cant get it out of my mind. I've only been this close to this kind of thing once in my life. Now twice I guess.

Edit: link to story.

Same here, haha!

Which version gets the closest? For me it's either 2e or C&C. Might mix the two somehow...
I'm about to start a Stonetop game, and I will be playing the Ranger. It's lookin' pretty good so far. I have some quibbles with the "subclasses", and oddly enough, I quite dislike about half of the other playbooks! But the Ranger has all the bits I am looking for, and the game has all the bits needed for the Ranger bits to actually be relevant.

Ugh, I'm sorry for you and your cousin. Even brushing up against something like this is rougher than I think most people know. It gets in your head and makes you question all sorts of things. And for family members, whoo boy.

Know the feeling.

Had a good friend throughout High School that was just perfect. Avid D&D player, computer geek, football star, steady relationships, and just nice as can be. Parted ways when he went off to join the military.

Wont go into details here, but just a few years later he made it into the news with a story that could have been straight out of Dexter.

I know it shouldn't, but still bothers me I wasn't able to "sense" he was a monster. Or maybe he really wasn't and something just snapped, which kind of scares me even more honestly, since it feels like that could happen to anyone.

Thought I had a situation like that, some years back, when a new neighbour moved in. Heard through the grapevine that he'd been convicted of murder and served something like 12 years. Did a little research and found out that he had interrupted a rape and had been a little... shall we say "enthusiastic" about stopping it. A beating turned into head trauma, that resulted in the other guy's death. Turned out to be the best neighbour I ever had in this complex.
