As for the no comms, I wonder if maybe that’s a “lie” too (like the poisoned air) and it’s actually that Gideon has some kind of planet-wide jamming device going. He could have even spread the rumors that Mandalore’s air is poisoned and that it’s got magnetic interference that prevents comms himself to keep everyone from discovering his secret base.

There’s gotta be some trick to it that not only enables Gideon to have Zoom conferences with his fellow Imperials but also detect intruders and follow them back to their neighboring homeworlds.


LOL. I did read somewhere that Katee said she had to practice walking like the animated version of her character does, with a bit of a swagger.

He might just have military grade holonet communication. In legends the Empire restricted access canon idk.


IDK if the Armorer is the other spy. She seems a bit obvious and Gideon did kill a heap of her coven. Maybe that's how she survived though cut a deal.

That leaves Mr Handsome British guy. Anyone in Star Wars with British accent us Imperial aligned right?

It's not just his holonet access. He can scan for ships as well. His interceptors and bombers followed Bo-Katan and Din back to Kalevala, and he knew that the Mandalorian fleet was orbiting Mandalore. So he's obviously got some way of ignoring the whole atmospheric interference with comms and scanning devices thing.

That leaves Mr Handsome British guy. Anyone in Star Wars with British accent us Imperial aligned right?

But yeah, I suppose Axe Woves could be a traitor. But as others have pointed out, Moff Gideon is a spy of sorts too. He even tells his fellow shadow councilors that secrets are his "stock in trade".

One suspects if the Mandalorians has set their minds to overcoming the comms interference before landing, they could have found a work-round too. But impatience, possible 5th columnist, and lack of a science guy in the party conspired against that.

I heard somewhere else someone suggest that "The Spies" could refer to the scout group who goes ahead to find the Forge first before the entire group lands, in the same sense it's used in "The Twelve Spies".

Yeah these Mandalorians definitely feel like they have a bit of meathead/jock vibe, even Bo-Katan might be found stuffing a nerd in a locker, and you know Din would (he even bullies droids!). Nothing entirely wrong with that, but it does clearly leave them lacking when they have a situation which might require some care, finesse or technical expertise to resolve.

That seems unlikely. If it's naturally-occurring, it could easily have required weeks or months of study by Moff Gideon's forces to overcome. If it's artificial, it would need to be dealt with at the source, not from above.
