Picard Season 3

Rabulias

the Incomparably Shrewd and Clever
If there was one thing "missing", it would have been nice to have Laris on the final episode, have her meet Jack, remind everyone that Picard not only has a son but a romantic partner as well.
Yeah, Laris got robbed with this season. :-/
If I were to nitpick one thing, its that the Borg Queen let them in.
At first I thought maybe part of Jack that was still Jack was letting them in, but it became clear that the Borg Queen just wanted to be vindictive and gloat in her expected victory. Clearly the last 20 years have not been happy ones for her.
One thing I'm confused about Data. Data had an emotion chip installed in teh early movies, yet they act like the emotion thing is completely brand new. Am I forgetting some history there? (certainly could be, a lot of trek I have probably forgotten).
Data's new body is more human than his original one, benefitting from 20 years of research and development. I imagine that the emotion subsystem in the new body is likewise more advanced, so I think it may be a very different and complex experience for Data compared to emotion chip 1.0.
and now ends my sub to paramount + till Halo season 2.
But Strange New Worlds season 2 starts June 15! :) Here is the new trailer:

I have lots of thoughts....but....<blank>

I would have wished for another piece of Nostalgia:
Picard tells Gordie: "You have the conn"
Then there is a whips of energy and Whelsey Crusher beems in "Sorry I'm late, things are busy in the multiverse. I can take the open station" (he points to where Gordie got up from)
Everyone ohh and ahhs....he hugs his mom
Gordie: "Mr. Crusher take your station"
Whelsey sits down
Data(leans over): "forgive my memory, but do you not have some sort of cosmic power that would be quite helpful just now?"
Whelsey (big smile) "Not this time Data (looks around) this is not exactly an approved visitation"
Data (nods) "Aha"
Whelsey: "But maybe there is something in the middle of the Cube? It's just a guess.." (smile)

And at the end Jack and Whelsey get to meet too...

And we could not get Guinnan at the bar :(

OG Data's emotion chip was a separate thing he could switch on and off - he experienced emotions, but not in the fully integrated way he is now. At least that was my take on it.

What happened to the Enterprise F?

Also: I thoroughly enjoyed that. I do hope we get the Seven/Jack/Raffi spin-off. Though not having Paramount+, I doubt I'd actually see it. :)

Edit to add: This really needs to be the last time we see the Borg in a villain role. They've now been done to death.

I am probably one of the least nostalgic person you could meet. I usually strongly dislike it and find it endlessly grating.

But good god damn did that shoot straight into my ten year old self. Holy crap. That just went straight into the emotion brain and did a big old tap dance. Very excellent ending for a very long series.

What a send off.
I know, right? The nostalgia-inducing references and cameos in the Disney Star Wars sequel movies and shows always feel at least a little grating and out of place, but somehow this series manages to deliver them in massive quantities without ever feeling nearly as uncomfortable.

Very good series, wrapped up about as well as it could have been.

yeah, but without Raffi.
I really hoped that she was going to get killed and not Shaw.

Seven, Jack, LaForge sisters, all great characters for new season.

My assumption is that it was damaged by the skirmish with the Titan (plus it needed work to strip out the fleet-mode circuits or whatever they were called), and they decided it was not worth the effort. Especially when there were persumably a bunch of ships that were in a similar boat but newer.

Surely the Titan was both older and in worse shape than the Enterprise F? Given that it was the ship Riker transferred to while the Enterprise E was still in service, and all the damage it took not just in that episode but the season as a whole.

Edit: Maybe it became the new Excelsior to make room? :)
