WotC may have sent the Pinkertons to a magic leakers home. Update: WotC confirms it and has a response.

Aggressively asked for me by my full name... okay. What does that even mean? How is this something to be upset about? Walk to the door like an adult and ask what is happening. At this point, your lawsuits need to be in your pockets... but this is douchey behaviour on the part of the investigators. Calm down, bros. When I get to the door here, my reaction is to ask bros to settle down... talk like adults. Let's move on...

Prevented the wife from closing the door (unsubstantiated, but circumstantial evidence that some form of this, however mild, occurred). Not good. Another 'calm down bro' moment. It sounds though, like there was someone more sensible on scene who was able to defuse the situation. But that should not have happened.

Familiar with their reputation... from a video game. This is a calm down bro moment from the other side. To legitimately think that someone is going to show up at your door because you have knowingly appropriated ill-gotten goods about a card game then... shoot up the place? Get a grip.
I think this is a "CAlm down, bro," moment for everyone. Could things have happened as Cannon reports it? Of course. Anything is possible. Could it be that CAnnon is lying or exaggerating what happened, as indicated by WoTC's response claiming Cannon's story contradicts the report written by Pinkerton and the conversation the WoTC rep had with Cannon that day? Of course. Anything is possible. Can it be anything between the two versions? Yes. Again, anything is possible. The problem is people are making these claims about what happened without anyone having been there and witnessing what actually happened.

Calm down, bros.

I don't get it. Isn't this typical human/squirrel interaction? Human ruins squirrel joke. Squirrel burns down the human's home state and takes over nation . Is't that how it is supposed to happen?
More importantly, can humans and squirrels breed? And if so, which characteristics of which species will they choose? :);)

Good questions. Post a picture of yourself, so we can see the answers.

Just some childish jokes. I apologize. It was just too easy. I couldn't help myself.

He had something he was not entitled too. If a shop keeper gives your the wrong thing the correct ethical decision is to give it back. Not go "ha ha I got one over on filthy shopkeepers everywhere!"
If the value is different, sure. If it's the same like it was here, then no. $4000 retail value of X cards is = to $4000 retail value of Y cards and the shopkeeper wants to sell both.
And the idea that these are things of equal value is false.
The retail value of both was the same.
Unreleased information (i.e. secrets) are worth far more than public information. Once the secret becomes public it's value is destroyed.
It wasn't a public mistake, though. It was a private one. It didn't become public until he made it public. It seems like you are conflating the value of the cards, which is the same, with the value of the information, which only changes if he goes public with it. Those are two different things.

No it's not. "Intellectual property" is an informal term, made up to obscure the fact that copyrights, patents etc are not the same thing as property.
Lawyer here: “property” is a formal legal term delineating the bundle of rights an owner can exercise over something owned. The main categories are “personal”, “real”, and “intellectual”. While they all share some common characteristics, each has their own unique characteristics as parts of those rights bundles. Each also has subcategories, which also have unique rules.

That was not "asking". Where I live you need to go to authorities and not send some private goons threatening citizens. But what to expect from a country that arms their teachers.
Mod Note:

Politics is generally off limits here. And injecting politics into an already heated discussion is worse. Don’t repeat this error.

I have some problems with the way the language and retelling of events has changed over time.

Originally, Mr. Cannon said they put their foot in the door to keep it from closing. Then Gizmodo tells us he said they "...'forced themselves' partially through the door...". Now it is just "forced their way in". Every time it becomes less specific, it sounds worse.
The first two are the same thing.

Excellent layman explanation.
