D&D 5E Halflings are the 7th most popular 5e race

I wonder how this data is tracking the Custom Lineage in Tasha's Cauldron of Everything. Or if it even can. I've used that variant a lot... not as much as the PHB races, sure, but a lot more than I've used tortles and kenku.

Then dragonborn falling three places, dwarf rising two places, and elves collectively somehow increasing by almost fifty percent compared to the last time we got actual numbers (from 11.2% to 16.1%) should all be reasons to raise an eyebrow.

Literally none of those are even big differences, nor remotely out of line with changes from the various DDB datasets.

Positions change quite a lot.

Archery is probably the best Fighting Style, helps a lot with the Sharpshooter power attack. I'd say a ranged Fighter is usually better than melee, they just have slightly lower AC and can't do attack of oppurtunity as well, but the ranged advantages outstrip the melee ones most of the time.

The best fighting style as long as someone is willing to be the front line. Sometimes people play a certain build just to help out the rest of the team.

It would appear to be listed as "Custom Lineage," and claims that only 98 Custom Lineage characters have been created. Out of over 120,000 characters.

Or your DM is ok with you starting encounters at long range. Which apparently is a small number, looking at the range thread currently active...

Most encounters don't start on an empty plain with no cover. Or if they do there's no reason the enemy wouldn't also have excellent long range combat skills in my game.

But I was just trying to say that what is "best" just depends on what you value. DPR isn't everything.
