So are we getting any extra gold for starting equipment or is it just base starting equipment?

Baseline. Plus everyone gets cold weather clothing, snowshoes, and crampons.
The one exception is if someone does old school rolls, they can ask for extra starting gear/gold as their bennie. And a few of the Character Secrets involve items.

@Quickleaf so rolled for my secret and got a 30. Have at it. I am going with a Rock Gnome Artificer. Haven't got my background down yet. Just starting the creation process.

Excellent. If you're from Icewind Dale, there are two rock gnome surnames that are likely to be part of the adventure: Romwod (one of whom vanished after an avalanche claimed their caravan) & Knobberknocker (an acolyte of Lathander who lives in Bryn Shander).
Alternately, there's a Spelljammer-ish hook which I'm going to leave vague for now.

As long as I can make sense of it, you're welcome to post any type of sheet – web, pdf, or text post – in that RG thread.
My only objection with people just dropping a DNDBeyond link is that, when a link was shared that way (from past experience, maybe they;ve improved this now?) is that DNDBeyond's web-sheets were missing lots of details that I find helpful to know – for ex, roleplaying details (alignment, ideal, bond, etc) would be omitted from the web sheets. All I ask, if you want to drop a link, just try to review your sheet from a GM's lens (what would be helpful for the GM to know about my character?) before dropping a link.
