Yeah I put this entire argument from this thread (summarized) in my feed back in the survey. The people I am playtest ing with are too.If some spell is directly tied to class/subclass function, it should not be a spell by definition, but an innate class feature.
making everything into spells is one of few things wrong with 5E.
My thread is we didn’t understand the RAW so maybe go back and look at my starting question. If you play the RAW game, actually use RAW. So no. Argument countered.
Lol. But that totally allows for playing a 2014 bard right?!? LolThe compatibility note probably will say: all arcane spellcasters chose their spells from the arcane list now.

Yes. Idk what’s so funny.Lol. But that totally allows for playing a 2014 bard right?!? Lol
Because if you change the list of spells the 2014 classes pull from you can’t use the 2014 classes as isYes. Idk what’s so funny.
Sure you can. The 2014 wizard uses the 2014 wizard spell list.Because if you change the list of spells the 2014 classes pull from you can’t use the 2014 classes as is
why would a mix and match warlock use the arcane list not 'any warlock spell'... if it is mix and match what makes the 2024 book supersede the 2014 one?Sure you can. The 2014 wizard uses the 2014 wizard spell list.
If you decide to mix and match within the class, that’s on you. The Tasha’s Bladesinger will work just fine on the 2024 Wizard, however, which is what actually matters.
Even if you do mix and match within the base class…you just use the arcane spell list. No adjustment required.
You pretty badly misread that, I think.why would a mix and match warlock use the arcane list not 'any warlock spell'... if it is mix and match what makes the 2024 book supersede the 2014 one?
So I sit down with my 2014 warlock and my buddy sits down with his 2024 warlock... he takes blade pact I take chain lock. I hit the level where I get a new cantrip and do what I do now... google "Warlock cantrips" and now a new one comes up 'pact of the blade' and it is exactly what my buddy is doing and it looks fun but it is just a cantrip... so I take it.Mixing and matching refers to doing things like using the 2014 warlock but pulling from the 2024 arcane spell list. That isn’t how the game will likely be intended to be played. Instead, the intention is that you. Can use the a 2014 subclass with a 2024 base class, not that you should be cherry picking individual features and rules between the two base classes.
