Even though I still have no intuitive sense of how far a kilometer is, nor how much a kilogram weighs, the Imperial system is extremely stupid and we are all dumber for using it. Please switch us all to metric, by whatever means necessary.
I would walk 500 kilometers/
And I would walk 500 more/
Just to be the man who walks a thousand kilometers/
To fall down at your door

I don't know....something just doesn't seem right about metric.

When some one says how tall they are, does they say 6’ or 182 cm?
I'm 181 and I say 181. Height is usually one of the few times where maybe half of people use feet. I'm used to height in feet and weight in pounds mostly from UFC.

I still have to convert though. If I hear someone is 5'4" I know that's short, but I have to think "that's about 8 inches shorter than me, so 20cm).

I have no idea what 181 cm is, I know Im 6 ft though which is something between 180 & 182?

I have noticed here that those born after 1990 use cm wheres those before still use ft and inches. Kgs seem to gave become standard though

I'll add that Shadow of the Demon Lord uses yards as a base measure and that works really well for me because I can substitute pretty closely with meters, have a food feel for distances, and it feels suitably old timey.

To get into OPs questions, in that game some long weapons do indeed have a 2 yard reach. And some characters (such a sclockworks and centaurs) can be large and fill a 2x2 yard space.

The Assize of Weights and Measures dates to the 13th century under Henry 3, it established the ounce, pound, gallon, bushel and quart. The Statute of Ells and Perches established the barleycorn, inch, foot, yard, ell and perch. Elizabeth I defined the English Mile. (Barleycorn is 1/3 of an inch and used for shoe sizes, the Ell is 2 cubits = 45inches and was used for cloth, it survives in the word Elbow)

The 1824 Act was an update of the older statutes
That's it. I want an rpg with bushels and barleycorns!
