D&D (2024) What would change for you if Wizards started calling it 6E?

Well considering they have some former Microsoft execs now, how long did it take Microsoft to go from "Windows 10 will be the last version" to "here's Windows 11"?
I think they are moving in more of a MMO World of Warcraft direction. The game will remain the same name, but have small incremental changes over the years. Eventually, the game will play nothing like today, but it will still be called D&D.

IF they where calling it 6e they could redraw systems from the ground up to fix issues like that.
This is why this new edition/whatever isn't very interesting to me. I'm fine playing 5E, and probably transitioning to this 5.5 whatsit, but I'd love to see some bigger changes to this game my group hands-down prefers to play.

Luckily, we live in a golden age of 5E and OSR clones & hacks, so I can find things to suit my needs.

Ah, I dont think the future is in books, so I can see our disconnect.
my buddy who works in government always says a quote from some movie "Everytime people tell me we are becoming a paperless society I get 2 new forms to fill out, sometimes in triplicate."
the books may be PDFs but they are still books. I think we are still a long way off just streaming info.
