I don't believe in the no-win scenario
What exactly is going to cause this loss of money?except if they are losing money it would make more sense to scrap and start over.

lack of interest... the same thing that happens after every edition peters out. What exactly is going to cause this loss of money?
Are we sure that 1dnd came about because 2014 5E isn't profitable anymore?lack of interest... the same thing that happens after every edition peters out.
what stopped 2e, 3e,3.5, 4e and now the 2014 version of 5e from being as profitable?
yes, maybe you get to 10% difference if you really try, but rewriting from the ground up should never be needed, unless you failed at a basic design the first timeI think that largely depends on the changes.
okay I'll bite, what do YOU think makes them put out new versions of the PHB DMG and MM? (and remember there have been more then 1 version so try to keep it to matching at least a few of them)Are we sure that 1dnd came about because 2014 5E isn't profitable anymore?
Every time has been for different reasons. I think the fact they are sticking with 5E after 10 years shows it's the c-c-c-c-combo breaker of the edition cycle. We are seeing the digitization of the game. Books are on their way out.okay I'll bite, what do YOU think makes them put out new versions of the PHB DMG and MM? I will respectfully say I do not believe any of that to be true at this timeEvery time has been for different reasons. I think the fact they are sticking with 5E after 10 years shows it's the c-c-c-c-combo breaker of the edition cycle. We are seeing the digitization of the game. Books are on their way out.
Every big stack of money does sport a different variety of serial numbers, I guess.Every time has been for different reasons.
Reasons as in plural. Making profit is always a driver, but there are other reasons at play too. First change up was to also get Arneson off the books. Next was new company new era. The half was planned before release as a total money grab. The next was the first attempt to digitize the game. For many reasons it didn't work and fractured the base. After that, was to repair that fracture. Finally, we are at digital attempt #2.Every big stack of money does sport a different variety of serial numbers, I guess.
in the past? mostly declining sales of the previous books.okay I'll bite, what do YOU think makes them put out new versions of the PHB DMG and MM? (and remember there have been more then 1 version so try to keep it to matching at least a few of them)
