I'm more bothered that it doesn't say "simply walk into".
Well, they're trying to follow the Seussian "Oh, the Places You'll Go!"

Phrasing it like they do, it makes it sound like these are places you can't go "Simply," but I guess must go in a convoluted fashion. Not incorrect, but I suspect not the implication they were going for.

It's the implication of the original phrase from LotR, I'm not sure why they'd be going for a different one.

Foe me it's, "I explained that to you three times, using the exact same words. Why do you understand when < other guy > says it?"

I'm not sure if its related, but I've definitely noticed a few times when people could only accept an idea if it was fully loaded with jargon. Something described in plain English would either be ignored or treated as amazingly confusing, but if you add in enough "lusory goals" or "neo trad influences" the same idea suddenly becomes respectable for some reason. Bleh.

Not in this case. It was to a co-worker; another tech in my group. The words used by both me, and a second co-worker to this tech were, "Click on the sign in area and then press the Windows Key 5 times." Exactly the same words.

It is said: If you cannot beat them, join them. I say, if you cannot beat them, beat them. Because they will be expecting you to join them, so you will have the element of surprise.

Ooh, that's a fun one. Please choose your preferred response:

1. Did you try telling them to click on the sign in area and then press the Windows Key five times?

2. Have you tried turning it off and on again?
