yes, that is not much of an argument for the 5e book offering more than the 2e one does however, it is only an argument for why they are creating a 5e book

which also nicely explains your above paragraph
I don't thin anyone knows yet if the 5e one will offer more than the 2e book will yet. (Though I doubt the new one will repeat a bunch of info like the original set did)

Yeah, but they are going to be written differently (It was in in-universe Cant for a lot of the old books, which I thought was a bit annoying to read) and there will be new and updated stuff.
None of that sounds like a positive to me (I liked the Cant quite a bit, and feel the essence of the setting is harmed without it).

See, the cant and Tony’s art were some of the things that kept me away from the setting in 2e. I’m interested in checking out his version - though I will just bortow it from my DM.

Those things are explicitly what drew me to the setting (that and an abiding love for the 1st/2nd cosmology). Without that, and considering WotC's lack of interest in setting detail in general, this product holds no value to me. 5e Ravenloft burned me hard, and WotC's version of Spelljammer and Dragonlance hasn't made me feel better about their ideas about setting.
