Trouble is, it can also screw with even much smaller encounters if there's a dialogue trigger on approach. It just seems to mess with the combat trigger, and can lead to the enemy getting a whole slew of turns in response to your supposed surprise attack. I had issues with it in encounters such as the windmill-gnome goblins, and the couriers cornered by gnolls.Yeah, surprise attacking obvious bosses often misses neat dialog and delicious approval. Makes Assassins weep.
Yeah, supplies aren't really a meaningful limitation in the game at present. While I do usually auto-select supplies when resting, I occasionally try to tailor them to the moment - like, is this camp visit more of a picnic, or a barbecue, or a boozy party? It might have already been mentioned, but I ended Act 1 with over 2,000 supplies on Tactician. I'm a bit obsessive about checking cupboards, but even if you're not as anal as me you'll probably be fine on supplies.
But if there's ever any concern, you can respec a companion into a goodberry dispenser.![]()
