What?Wizards get to be boring Doctor Strange.
Regardless of how I may agree with you on other topics, sir, to this I can only reply "swords at dawn".

My condoleances. I think it's probably my fault. But then again I did register here with the express purpose of discussing this exact subject!well I will say my thread last a lot more pages than I expected before it went completely off the rails.

I was mostly thinking disparity between classes. What problem was being solved? Did 3e/4e expect regular improvements in magic items because of regular improvements in monster ACs and other defenses? Is that what you think is being alluded to here? If that's the case then, yeah, I'd say the problem was pretty much removed, so the need for the same magic item treadmill? I'm not seeing it.
I did not let the Wizard pass either…Seems like everything gets a pass but the creatures the players play
I don't disagree in the least lol. But D&D doesn't want to be coherent. It wants to be an all things to all men fantasy game.Too bad. They'd be a more coherent game if they did.
By this amazing logic humanity has never faced any "real issues" in the last 2 million years.Somehow, we muddled through. DMs will continue to do so.
well, you proved the premise… any improvement for one is detrimental for someone elseI think it's probably my fault. But then again I did register here with the express purpose of discussing this exact subject!
Non-magical folk apparently aren't allowed to be awesome or even keep pace with casters without magic items. So it's a bit off that the game pretends it can be played without them so hard that it doesn't have rules for obtaining said items. What problem was being solved?
