To piggyback off my own post

The people are the single most important factor in good RPGing

And while I don’t know if it’s actually an unpopular opinion, it definitely seems to be an unpopular discussion topic given the amount of text devoted to system discussions in comparison.

I'm pretty sure that if we started actually focussing on players, we'd start imagining how others on here played, and then we would express that opinion in a post, and... Well, do we really hate the mods and want to be banished that much.

Man of Steel is legitimately a good Superman film.

Maybe...if you hate everything Superman stands for and hate the entire genre of superheroes.

It's about as close to an anti-superhero and anti-Superman movie as you could get.

Apropos of nothing, it’s wild how much D&D players talk a out morality when the core gameplay loop is: pick someone else’s home, invade it, kill every living thing therein, and haul out anything valuable you can find…only to be rewarded by someone in charge of something laughably referred to as “civilization.”

Even in the beginning, D&D adventures always added a thin veneer to justify the actions of the PCs. You weren't just invading the homes of a bunch of peaceful orcs, these are folks who have been raiding nearby villages or engaging in banditry.

There is no crime more worthy of capital punishment than getting one over on the PCs.

That is not at all reflective the actual movie and sounds more like an analysis from someone who found out Snyder made it, watched a trailer, and decided Cavill scowled too much, without actually paying attention to the film and certainly without comparing it to the many different interpretations of Kal throughout the years.

I'm not saying that MoS is THE definitive Superman. I am saying it is A legitimate interpretation of the character. And, as an aside, a completely wasted one when following it up with the atrocious BvS.

But isn’t that always the most likely and least offensive explanation After all, we wouldn’t want to assume they have all that context and are still wrong about whatever it is - right?

It's a demonstrably wrong take. Every beat in that film can be traced back to a influential and well loved comic, from Kibgdom Come to Man of Steel to Birthright and various ongoing titles. Saying "it's not superman" reveals either a very shallow understanding of the history of the character, or the inability to differentiate between "it's bad" and "I don't like it."
