D&D General What do you NOT want systems for?

Would it be possible to have Grapple an automatic thing as an Action (or one attack) but the grappled creature has a free chance at the start of their turn to escape against a set DC based on the grappler STR score + a bonus based on the size difference (if any).
There are a lot of ways to potentially improve Grapple lol. Sadly with 5E it's a bit of mess, and then 2024 just seems to slightly changing what kind of mess it is without fundamentally improving it (though I may have missed something).

I dislike the concept of Social Combat, but I do want something like a Skill Challenge system to give me a better framework for adjudicating things that take more than a single roll.

At the risk of angering the entire Enworld community, I'd love to see Multiclassing go the way of the Dodo.

Or, if Multiclassing MUST be endured, I'd like the following rules:

1) You can only have 2 classes. No Fighter 3/Rogue 3/Sorcerer 1/Druid 2.
2) At least one of the classes needs to be Cleric, Fighter, Rogue, or Wizard.
3) When you Multiclass, you must continue taking levels in the 2nd class until your 2 class levels are equal. After that, neither class can be more than 1 level off from the other class (optional)

I despise a la carte multiclassing, dipping and all the other shenanigans around them. I'd sooner replace the lot with some form of Hybrid/Dual classing system. Honestly ... 4e had the right of it, use your feat slots to "dip" into other classes (though I'd have not forced them to take so many feats just to swap powers), and then there's also a way to make a hybrid class.

I'm torn on grapple. I preferred something along the lines of 3.5 but then you get things like my PC that got the jump on the enemy caster and just ended the encounter by pinning them. But there really should be more to it, grappling someone can be an important aspect of individual combat.

i don't want rules and systems for magic, let them casters roll DC20+ skill checks any time they want to cast anything and see how they like it ;)
I want a system and I want them to roll, no need for it to always be a success / predictable. The one thing that should take the most mastery is the most reliable thing we have

I just don't think there will ever be a great system for stealth. We could and perhaps should have a few options, but it's one of those areas that are just difficult to design for a mass audience.
We should look at the best stealth video games and borrow from there. Not the you’re easily spotted and lose the second you’re spotted one. Instead the ones with varying levels of threat, alertness, vantage points, getting back into stealth, etc. You could probably do that with a sliding clock.

Tactical combat that pushes the game into miniature gaming territory. Suppose you can copy/paste this into unpopular opinion thread.
is that something you want or something you do not want.

I want the game to support both battlemaps and TotM, I prefer the 13th Age spell descriptions, as they work better with the latter and have no real issue with the former, if that is what you want

It's also an extremely ableist PoV, and I'm sorry to say that but it straight up is ableist in the worst way because some people just aren't great talkers, some people just aren't very convincing
I am looking for a good idea how to convince someone, not the perfect smooth words for it, and then the DC is set based on how effective that idea is, not a whole 5 minute monologue
