For a bit more data. If we look at the higher levels of sorc burst, here is what it looks like (I used a computer sim for this rather than theory so it may be sliiiiightly off)
4d8 sorc burst

Infinite Reroll: 20.585
Max 5 Reroll: 20.547
Standard 4d8: 18
Standard 4d10: 22

so ~2.5-2.6 more damage than a standard d8 cantrip at that level, -1.5 from a d10 cantrip.
With the damage type versatility, seems pretty good.

A bit more than half-way between d8 and d10, plus variable damage type. Seems like a good option to me.

I don’t see how that tracks, especially with the EB upgrade Invocations being able to be used on any cantrip now.
EB is still the best option though: force damage, multiple attempts to hit/crit, d10 dice. You're only going to want to EB + AB anyway, and then you get your two spells per rest plus your floating recovery. Spam that cantrip and then use your three bomb spells before you beg for a rest

but that's what people wanted.

As written it seems like Pact of the Chain's new forms still have to choose from Celestial/Fiend/Fey, so your Skeleton isn't undead nor is the Tadpole an Aberration, but you get to pick Celestial/Fiend/or Fey.

It’s a strong option for sure, but not the only worthwhile one.

Cantrips and a few powerful spells between short rests is what I wanted, yes. And only one class offers that, so it’s good that they aren’t taking the option away.
