D&D General BG3 Massive Spoiler Thread

Anyone else finding Act 3 laborious?
There seem to be a bunch of "missions" there that really don't seem interesting enough to pursue.
Well, at least one, that painter story with the haunted house (which has horrible annoying mechanics, too). Elder Brain is soon to break free and turn lots of people into slaves and mind flayers, why should I carry about one haunted house. Can't some low level adventurer take care of that?.

And the story with the kid toys stuffed with explosives seemed broken to me, couldn't conclude

Visiting the circus also feels a bit odd at this point in time, though it's fun.

It doesn't surprise me that it is kinda the weakest, since it's so late in the game and probably recieved the least polishing.
Which isn't to say the overal story ends weak, though, just the implementation leaves a bit to be desired, and the side stories...

This is something that very often bugs me in games. Its one of probably 2 consistent flaws that I've seen over my life as a gamer.

1. The game eventually breaks. You figure out the loops, you gain too much power, something, and at some point the game is a steam roll. This for sure happened in BG3, as it happens in probably most games I play. On one hand this is fine (its good to 'master' something) on the other, its always a bit of a drag to me when the struggle ends.

2. The urgency is artificial, and as such, it shouldn't exist. We are told the flayer thing will pop and we will go all tentacles, but also, it really wont. That is our personal mission from turn 1 of the game, and yet...its never a risk really. At all. I would have preferred a more natural progression in 'urgency' that just isnt there until its 'only you can save the world' which is fine and all, but then as you say why am I poking around in various cupboards?

Not truly a spoiler, but the game (bought for PS5 since Mac release took so long) has done one impossible thing so far: Made me actually interested in FR, which I have bounced hard off of for 30 years, despite my best efforts. The portrayal of the Realms is fantastic, dark, mysterious, and intriguing. Rosymorn Monastery is when I really had to accept that my distaste was dissipating.

Weird issue playing tonight, possibly from one the updates.

After saving Halsin and the party, I switched out party members, 3 for 3.

Some of their gear, including containers like Camp Supplies, Key Ring, and Alchemy Pouch, came over to my PC by Magic Fingers.
  • Any way to stop that?
  • Is it a feature or a bug?
  • Maybe it happened because I took all the same kind of stuff from Minthara?

1. I am pretty sure that putting your companions' camp supplies, key rings, and alchemy pouches in the Camp Chest will prevent this from happening in the future.
2. Both, probably. A new feature from the most recent patch is that if you dismiss companions, their quest items come over to you, to make sure you have them in important scenes. Those storage items are classified as quest items, so they're included in the list of items that the new patch moves to your character's inventory. So it's a consequence of a recent feature, but given that it's extremely annoying, I would bet that this is unintended. Hopefully this is fixed in the next patch.

Thank you! I guess I won’t switch party members for a while.

One of the items that came over was a Staff from Gale that I had as his backup weapon. I didn’t think it was important but I guess maybe it is.

Another was Shadowheart’s d20 artifact, which is obviously critical but it doesn’t make sense for her to part with it.

Plot things should have orange boxes.

Yeah, it is annoying. The only storage item I could see a good argument for is the keychains, in case a companion had picked up the key to a door you need to open.

So I got to Nightsong. Killing Balthazar was a pain but man Ranger Karlach was MVP. Even blind and disadvantage on saves she took out him and like 4 of his minions solo. Everyone else died in Cloud Kill spells.

Also, Shadowheart had to decide to forsake Shar or not and I guess she might have done it on her own? I passed a DC 30 persuasion check to help her a long but that felt like maybe I robbed her of the choice. Does she choose not to kill her on her own?

Also I guess Shar isn’t to mad since she still grants SH her clerical spells.
