D&D 5E Check Out Planescape's Table of Contents & More!

There are already dozens of different gith stat blocks in MotM. I don't see any standard role that is significantly lacking.

I'll guess we'll see when we have the book. These gith might have roles that we hadn't thought of. They might be something to do with the adventure plot.

Good point, maybe to mix Gith abilities, although that wouldn't explain the Aberration creature type. Maybe it's somekind of none Illithid Hivemind, like fight fire with fire.

That's what I was thinking. Merging the two races into one form to better fight and destroy the mind flayers.

Why do goblin warriors and goblin sneaks have different stat blocks? Because that is how we differentiate roles in 5E. If the unifier has unique abilities and performs a specific role, it is going to get a new stat block.

While I agree with you that there could be such a basic reason for this stat block, that it's an aberration indicates that it's more than just a different basic kind of gith role like warrior, sneak, mason, etc.

I wonder if threads (on twitter,not ENWorld) like these are done in partnership or the behest of WotC as viral marketing. Did they pick someone and say, "You can share art and the ToC from this one book this week. Next week, you can share art and ToC from the adventure." or whatever.

They do pick folks but I think it isn’t as formal as all that and some folks only find out when a package arrives.

Some folks get early copies cause they worked on the book.

Some of the 5e books have been a bit hit and miss in my opinion, but the art has consistently been spectacular.
