It has been a long time sense I read it; however, my memory of it was Dracula wasn't that scary. He spends a good part of the book running from Van Helsing and eventual dies without much of a fight.
The log of the Demeter is an inspiration for horror writers for this day. (No idea how the movie is.) You can see its echoes in tons of classic horror since.

Good point. So tieflings have been a playable race for 60% of D&D's lifespan and in the PHB for 30% of D&D's lifespan. So hardly a need to "normalize" them now.

Planescape was niche, 4E well yeah.
Tieflengs have been normal due to 5E.

They've been normal due to 5E imho. Expect a buff they suck mechanically in PHB.

They were a lot more than just niche. WotC were quite conservative and slow to add them to the PHB, but they were common at table from the late 90s, even when other Planescape races did not catch on. There are, for example, Tiefling party members in Planescape: Torment (1999), Baldur's Gate 2 (2000) and Neverwinter Nights 2 (2008).
