Yeah I think this is true. However why?I'm sure WotC would love to pretend this sidebar doesn't exist, and I don't expect it to be there in any form in the new not-edition. But they can't erase it from 5e!
Yep, I'll have to look for new players in the retirement homes soon (of course, in about 15-20 years I'll be joining them...).What you will probably find is that folks who don’t have as much of a tie to older editions are happy to lean into more fantastical/whimsical like this and it’s fine.

Which is exactly why I think individual table need to have the ability to…wait for it…exclude what they want for the flavor they want.
