Personally, an all dwarf or all warlock campaign could be interesting.

I also think a "looser" version of "all X" can help sell the idea to the player. You could have an all "rogue" campaign - where a dex fighter with the criminal background "counts" as a rogue. An all gish party might be interesting too - again, so many ways to make a gish in 5e.

I'd really like to run an all SRD game, because sub-classes and feats get on my nerves.

Sounds kinky. But don't dwarves just sprout out of the ground, given the lack of a female sex?
doesn't the SRD have subclasses? Only one per class but it's still "there"....

on the origin of dwarves, I refer you to Troika!

Dragonborn, naturally.

Warlock or Bard would also work. A gaggle of Warlocks each with a different patron would be very interesting, especially if the group coordinated to avoid too much doubling up of the same invocations/spells. Would be especially nice if someone is allowed to use a homebrew patron that supports a more defensive playstyle (e.g. offering shield proficiency and other such things.) Naturally, the question becomes: what brings together so many Warlocks of different patrons? Could be a very interesting campaign.

And then Bard is just about equally flexible, but leaning more into spells. Bardic Inspiration for days, Swords makes for good offense, Valor for acceptable defense, Lore for knowledge and spells, and Eloquence for being a face among faces. If you have a fifth, Tragedy, Creation, or Spirits could all be interesting. The obvious "why are they together" would be that they're all part of the same acting troupe, but potentially other options could be at least as good (e.g., maybe you're all participants in an acting competition that turns out to be a shadow fey trap, and you realize by the end that the group of you are surprisingly effective, collectively.)

grin

This was back in the late 80s. Sir Terry hadn't written anything about the dwarves yet, we just went by Tolkien, which never implied there weren't women dwarves.

Following the inadvertent Thundercats reference in a recent thread, an all-Tabaxi party is tempting.

In my own experience I've played in an All Dwarf Vikings adventure in a Norse mythology setting. I played an artificer alchemist as a mead brewer called Falco Fafnirsson.

Ponders an all-dwarf warlock game...
