I mean, no, no it wasn't. Not by standard publishing parlance: errata is for misspellings and factual errors, not rewrites. Thsta new typical Edition.
This has already been proven wrong. They have made changes to 5e spells and abilities to change how they work and called it errata. It's not simply misspellings and factual errors.

I voted no because at this moment, I've no intention of buying anything. Possibly some others might get it and, if I join their game, I might try some of it out but I'm moving away from 5e as my edition of choice. Who knows what the future will bring though, maybe one of my friends will be so into 5.5 that their enthusiasm will draw me in.

Well, yeah, they sometimes do rules tweaks with errata when something is being consistently abused or confused. I'd say the 2024 books go quite a bit beyond that, though. The difference is very likely, "Hey, if we're going to be printing whole new books, what ELSE could we change, beyond just the errata, while still being essentially the same game?"

The playtest helped to define those limits.

Quick straw poll. What are your intentions right now?

Yes or no only. If you are undecided go with which way you are leaning—-like if you HAD to pick which would you pick? If you’re exactly 50/50 then don’t worry I guess!
The general vibe for my group (Im the DM) is Yep.
5e is the longest Ive ever played any edition of D&D and my current group has been going strong for almost 9 years, no reason to stop now.

There is no clear line. Rewriting classes and adding masteries is beyond that line for most people. It is not just errata.
I agree with this, which is why holding the opinion that it's essentially errata is a valid position and opinion, and not disingenuous. Some agree with it and some don't, depending on where they draw that line. And to be clear, I use the word "essentially" because I believe that it's mainly true. Mainly, as in not all of it can be chalked up to errata.
