I don’t know, disabilities do make life worse to me, I’d go as far as considering that an objective fact. They do not make the person worth less as a human however.Disability justice is about recognizing that having a disability doesn't make your experience with life worse, just different.
critiques can be, a criticism cannot… they supposedly criticized the art, they did not critique itAs far as I know, critiques can be positive. Or bad. Or both. Or neutral.
But, here's the thing. His criticism was entirely personal and made no broader claims. Which is perfectly fine. No one is going to question this.
But, "the pose is awful"? "she really doesn't convey the concept of "wizard" in any way at all IMO."? Those are pretty bold statements that are hardly immune to response.
Because the person making the criticism has repeatedly gone on to state, "well, this is just my opinion" Even:I am not sure why a criticism would have to be immune to response…
I'm not going to say why, because I don't have to.
The idea is that it is not the disability that causes difficulty, but that it is the way that society is by and large designed towards accommodating the primarily able-bodied, often to the exclusion of the disabled. A theoretically more just society would be as simple to live in and navigate for someone with a disability as someone who is not.I don’t know, disabilities do make life worse to me, I’d go as far as considering that an objective fact. They do not make the person worth less as a human however.
I had to look up the difference.critiques can be, a criticism cannot… they supposedly criticized the art, they did not critique it
I associate "critique" with the post-Kantian tradition in German philosophy. (As translated into English - I don't speak or read German.)I had to look up the difference.
In German both words are the same for example: "Kritik".
Frankly, I was sort of hoping that. Please don't leave, this thread will never reach 2000 posts without you!
Ah, but you see, I didn't make anything remotely like a "statement of fact" and I don't see why you think I have. Yes, everything I've said I've either said was my opinion, or it was implied since, well, this is all simply peoples' opinions about the image. But, if you make statements of opinion as statements of fact, don't get huffy when people start to question the source of your opinion.
