I love the novel version of Neverwhere. Any reason to not watch the original TV show?

It's been more than a few years since I've seen it. As someone who saw the show first then read the book later, I would say the series is pretty good and reasonably true to the book. But definitely low on budget. As long as you calibrate you expectations accordingly it should be enjoyable, but not a definitively true adaptation.

@Deset Gled basically got it right. It’s relatively close to the source material, but not a 1:1 adaptation. And I recall the effects are akin to Tom Baker era Doctor Who- inexpensive, but effective.

I’d watch it again if it were on, no doubt!

Streaming free on Pluto TV and am bingeing it now. Your reviews sound about right.

One thing that I absolutely loved in Taiwan (and there were LOTS of things - freaking foodie heaven) was the coffee shaved ice (the wife swears by the mango). Ice shaved so fine that it's practically ice cream smooth. I gotta go back. My older one might be working there in a short while, so I have lots of excuses to head back.

Did I mention that I recommend Taiwan to anyone? :D
For a while I was dividing time between Taiwan and India. THAT was my foodie heaven.

Yeah, I really like Taiwanese shaved ice. I like the fruit toppings, but I my go to toppings were usually condensed milk and mung beans and or boiled peanuts. May sound weird to many folks in the US, but its really good.

Agree with you about the bread. Even in India, where I love a lot of the traditional flat bread, after a while I really miss a good rye or sourdough. And, for that matter, good deli sandwiches in general. Never had a good sandwich in Taiwan, well, except for the break fast sandwiches that all those breakfast shops sell. Still, I prefer the more traditional Taiwanese fast-food breakfasts: baozi (steamed buns filled with, well, all kinds of things), mantou (unfilled steamed buns, youtiao with savory soy-milk soup to dip it in, etc.).

Being back in the midwest, USA, I really miss street-food culture.
