I play the odd old school game at a con--they remind me of the things I enjoyed and disliked about the old days--but I wouldn't think that counts.

Pirate Borg? I'm jealous!
The Pirate Borg Discord has lots of pick-up games going on all the time. It's a really great game to drop in for a one-shot.

There is probably also going to be a real effort to get demo games going all over this Sept. 19 (Talk Like a Pirate Day) this year, so keep an eye out at your FLGS and similar spaces. (Come to think of it, I wonder if I can run one at my local library.)

I got into D&D right as WOTC published 3e. I went back and played 1e, 2e, and OSR. However I never loved the tropes.

The internal rules were cool but the worlds and Adventures OSR and OS DMs run never interest me. I tend to struggle to care about them

That's exciting. Thanks for letting me know! Been wanting to try out Mork Borg for a while, and Pirate Borg looks the scurviest.

That doesn't make it not an echo chamber. The membership of Discord servers are focused and self selecting. You can't extract any trends beyond its scope from one.
Ok, geez, hammer me over the head some more, Reynard. ;)

Echo chamber comments aside, the whole point of my sharing that personal anecdote was that there are communities where the assumption "if you prefer OSR over 5e, then you're old" is a false.

Most of the people I know that like old school games are millennials, as are the most prominent OSR vtubers i can think of.
