I'm currently doing a sexual harassment/diversity/etc. thingy for work... If we want to get paid for the time we spent on it if we did it from home, we're required to spend at least two hours reading the presentation, and there's a timer.
I finished it in half the time, and am now in the middle of spending an hour waiting around for the timer to get to where it needs to be in order to screenshot it and email it to my boss for confirmation.
This very much reminds me of elementary school, where I was always that kid who'd be staring at the ceiling halfway through the class because I'd already done all the reading and the homework and was suffering from mindrot due to boredom...

They're not getting printed into any of the constructed formats where they'll be 4x must haves.. (Looking at you.. Sheoldred, the Apocalypse.. at $80/ea )

That was actually the card that had me once again pulling back when I was in yet another 'why shouldnt I' phase of picking up a few singles, and then had me flip out, pack up all my stuff and drop it at my local shop to sell. :ROFLMAO:

Years ago I worked in a corp call center that had a fire and security division. We had to do these monthly readings with a quiz to be certified for such work by law. the material covered resetting servers in case of a crash, how to contect fire and police, etc.. Our leaders built out a quiz of 20 questions that would randomly select 10 each month. Folks just remembered the answers and blitz'd it each month as they were required. Went on for years.

Well, servers finally went down one time and nobody knew what to do. :ROFLMAO:

I just had to do a bunch of these myself.. Some of them make sense.. Like "SOP involving working around High-Voltage equipment" Makes sense.. I'm not qualified to work with that stuff.. But I do work in a facility that has it. I should probably know the rules so I don't get zapped.

But then there's also like.. "Anti-Phishing" and "Protecting our company's IP"...

I tried to play one of the videos in a separate tab, and then go back to doing work so I could just fly through the test at the end, but it knew it wasn't the active tab, and auto-paused the video... ugh

The Movie "The Gamers: Hands of Fate", which has a storyline based on what was an imaginary card game called "Romance of the Nine Empires." A game was later released, in small quantities, to the backers of the movie. Jen Page, who plays the female version of the character "Luster" and the company representative in the big con competition scene, also worked on the Magic team for a while.

"The Meech"

And the movies:

(I know.. Corporations gonna corp. Capitalism goes brrrr)

It is a bit more that that. The behavior we see - chasing primarily short term benefit - is not innate to capitalism. It comes largely from the uncontrolled impact of information technology on capitalism.

What, you thought social media is the only place where unfettered access to information tech has unfortunate results? Ha!
