Some monsters maybe? Not all of them. The point of Monsters is to be buzzsawed...? By design, they are meant to last 2 Rounds, sometimes 3.

I would say you are an exception to the other folks who bought splatbooks over the years.not sure about that, the power creep always was why I decided against buying more books. Without it I might not have been as strict with my 'stick to the core books' rule
Quite literally all of them: WotC aims to have all Monsters last 2-3 Roinds, weighted. Lre towards 2 or less. Monsters of the Multiverse makes the Monsters more likely to work as intended that way. Some monsters maybe? Not all of them.
My goal is to extend the life of the monsters depending on the encounter and shorten the time to move through rounds.Quite literally all of them: WotC aims to have all Monsters last 2-3 Roinds, weighted. OK, fair enough, but that ia the opposite of what the CR is designed to accomplish. My goal is to extend the life of the monsters depending on the encounter and shorten the time to move through rounds.

That is fine, as long as that buzzsawijg taps some resources. Monsters are a resource attrition speed-up, that's what CR is designed to facilitate. Not your cup of tea, fair, but that's what the system is built to do.Okay but I’d argue there are monsters for which buzzsawing occurs in a single round so even by that standard, it still fails. Whatever. It’s not my cup of tea.

I mean, I am not sure how it can be "accurate" or "inaccurate" but yeah that is how 5E is balanced: 12-24 Combat Rounds spread between 6-8 Encounters between Long Rests. Anything less isn't going to push the players much at allOkay is this back to that 5 to 7 encounters per day stuff? Because I didn’t find that to be accurate either.
Okay let’s just say I don’t see the utility of challenge rating but am totally cool that you do.I mean, I am not sure how it can be "accurate" or "inaccurate" but yeah that is how 5E is balanced: 12-24 Combat Rounds spread between 6-8 Encounters between Long Rests.
