D&D (2024) 2024 Spell Changes

Is Feeblemind the only spell in the game that got a formal rename?

Its actually very surprising, WOTC has gone out of its way to keep spell names the same for backwards compatibility (even ones liek the sumon spells that were COMPLETELY changed in mechanics), but this one they were willing to change the name on. Why?....so strange

I believe that it was an issue of inclusivity.

I think it’s mostly speculation, but one could compare the green dragon sneak peek to the 2014 version (at work now or I’d do it myself). Still a very limited example, but might offer some clues
If your going based on that example, attack bonuses are unchanged at high levels, so shield is just as strong as before.

Of course using a single example is a terrible terrible way to examine this topic, so best not to examine it at all until we have the MM

One thing they didn’t do with certain charm spells is clarify what “friendly” means in a fight with maybe an example.

Is it friendly in that I see the creature fighting my comrades and I shout at them both and say “all please stop!” Or friendly in that I might literally stop one of my Allie’s from hurting my new buddy?

The interpretation created a very wide variance in power
