D&D (2024) D&D Direct Will Talk About Project Sigil & Future of D&D on Aug 27th

D&D Direct is an official live-streamed event which will take place on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at 9 am PDT (5pm BST).

The event will talk about the future of Dungeons & Dragons, and the Project Sigil 3D virtual tabletop.

You can sign up for the Project Sigil closed beta, which kicks off this fall, to be one of the lucky players who will preview the functionality and provide feedback to help improve D&D's next virtual experience.

Yes, this is something that I've also been wondering about and I'm disappointed about the silence from WotC on this.

OTOH, we do have at least one hint. They recently changed how you access the rules for each class. Instead of a drop-down menu, you are now taken to a separate page with a listing. It seems to me that this paves the way for having access to both the 2014 and the 2024 versions. We'll see.

They already have the Legacy set-up for VGtM and MToF, both for monsters and for species. It will almost certainly be done the same way.

I think Dark Sun is still viable, because it's a campaign setting about how Defiling / Climate Change has ruined the world, bringing about some apocalypse for it's post-apocalyptic setting. Last time I checked, the world is still getting ruined by Climate Change.

They did say there was a D&D/MtG launch, certainly for the new Secret Lairs...but it wouldn't surprise me if a new Magic-themed D&D product was announced.

I think it's new, because those secret Lairs have already been announced and shown, but I could be wrong. Honestly those secret Lairs are just a reskin of existing cards, so not impressive.
