Maybe start banning people that trash nearly every thread? Send a message....
We are, of course, not going to ban people for criticising WotC.

There may be a case for asking people to stay on topic/not threadcrap. I've no conceptual issue with that, my only concern there would be about workload (and also we are very tolerant generally of conversation drift). I'll have a chat with Umbran and Danny. No promises.

I certainly agree that the mood around here has turned pretty negative--I know I'm a lot less inclined to engage these days--but I honestly don't know that there's any realistic way to change things.

Gaming, like just about every other aspect of modern life, has become extremely polarized and a lot of people are just angry all the time. Before long, I suspect enworld will be like family holiday gatherings: somewhere I used to go, in the before times...

I am less interested in corporate news than some folks…I know there is a place for many interests. I can pass by what is not interesting.

But the interjection of WOTC sux! At every turn is overdone. Even more annoying is when this becomes an indictment of whole political/economic systems. You go for from talking about a game of escapism to the plight of workers in one economic system vs another. (Sigh)

I don’t know what the solution is. My philosophy about the blocking function is that it is there for a reason. I feel less guilty about using it than I once did.

How is WotC as a business relevant to the rules at all?
People sometimes ascribe the motive behind certain rules, particularly changes, with making the game more suitable for a particular WotC business model. For example, WotC wants to increase the monetization of D&D and get into VTT and AI spaces, so rules are modified to make them more VTT- or AI-friendly. Whether the assertion is true or not is hard to tell, but it'll come up. I guarantee it.

Thank you. I get this is potentially not realistic. I clearly come here more than a sane person should....

Also, to be clear, I would never ask you to ban people for criticizing any business.... It's the off topic and incessantness.... But I get that I'm likely asking for the impossible. I also get that emotions are charged, and that people are reading way too much into each other's posts right now.
