D&D (2024) Not loving weapon mastery with beginners

So we're going to start asking for the removal of the wizard, right?

To speed up combat? To make sure we're spending as little time as possible interacting with what should be a fun part of the game?

Wizards are generally fine if the player knows what they're doing.

Turning into a rare class now.

Summoning wizards (well anything) can make the game chug.

At higher levels they are.

Level 1-7 not really. Hell even as a ritual caster warlocks better and has more damage and better saves. Wizard versatility is theoretical.

Power doesn't mean popularity (3.5 Druid and Cleric).
I guess my point is, if nobody's playing them, why all the acrimony? Who cares if they're theoretically "unbalanced"?

Mostly coming from people who don't actually play or barely play.

They're pushing the edition war from 15-20 years ago or haven't been paying attention.

2014 Wizards and Moon Druids are really only the best class at the highest levels. And if they're played by experienced powergamer. Eg me;).

5E power classes are generally the charisma ones.

If you don't want weapon masteries in D&D, you need to get all the people who like masteries to quit D&D! That way your opinion will be the majority and will then be the one catered too!

Hey people, did you know Level Up has cool stuff for martial characters? And more mechanical options for everyone? You should totally quit D&D and go play Level UP instead!
