D&D General Greyhawk Humanocentricism?

Cause it's a fishing town of a human nation. It's mentioned they don't really have any issues with elves, dwarves and halflings coming by.

But that’s the point. Why is it a human fishing town? I get the point of a town being there. Fine and dandy. But a town that’s 90% human when the nearest human settlement is actually quite a ways away and there are multiple non-human settlements far closer?

It’s not a problem that it’s got humans. That’s plausible. It’s the fact that outside of a couple of exceptions, it’s almost entirely human.

Why would the non-humans want to live in Saltmarsh instead of their existing homes?

Why does anyone want to live somewhere? Wealth opportunities. Safety. Good port. Education opportunities. Trade. Mining.

It’s not like it’s some bizarre notion that people migrate into towns. Towns don’t spring up fully formed from nothing. They grow out of existing populations usually. And the existing populations are varied.

But the population in the town is not?

Why don’t badgers and foxes live together?

Because they aren’t intelligent species that can communicate and trade and even potentially mate?
No, plenty of non-sentient species share habitats. It’s because they have different requirements and living conditions.

Lizard folk do not want to live in dry well-ventilated human houses. Humans do not want to share living space with a species that lives on raw meat.

Saltmarsh is a sleepy village, not a bustling town. What does it specifically have to offer to non-human migrants?

Maybe. But what about all the elves and various others in the forest? The fact that this is a major trading port?

I’m not saying folks live in the same houses but I absolutely could see lizard folk living on the outskirts for trade opportunities.
