Just found a section called “Encounter Pace and Tension” which I think is along the lines you were looking for.Ah. So it's really a zoomed-out discussion of pacing. I was thinking more like screenwriting advice on pacing. For a quicker pace jump cut to the action, don't linger on resolved scenes, skip scenes without dramatic tension, etc. For a slower pace let scenes breathe, linger after a scene resolves, focus on the details, etc.
What about alternative or better developed encumbrance and dark vision? I seem to recall at one of those just kinda saying that the GM would decide and the other being a mechanically precise set of handcuffs for players and GM's to buyt heads overSo far I’ve spotted a Variant rule for advancement via training and an Optional rule for Renown.

Do you mean it's presented as a default rule?Oh, morale isn't "optional".
Well...I mean if you are a new DM the rules are gone, because they aren't being republished. And if you can't recreate the same experience without access to materials they refuse to make available to new customers...how much is it really the same game? The resting variant rules from the 2014 DMG didn't go away. They are just not in the 2024 DMG. You can still use the variant rules from the 2014 DMG just fine. This is still 5e, those rules are not gone.
The rules that are gone are the rules that were not used by many players - that's why they are gone.Well...I mean if you are a new DM the rules are gone, because they aren't being republished. provide actual guidance, likeI'm still not sure what you mean - they tell you to work with your players and show you how. What more COULD they do?

Make a pack of equipment using 50gp, don’t put weapons and armor in it since that’s in the class equipment.
Word on the Street was that the Cosmology chapter was pretty similar to what was in 2014, without thw talk of alternate Cosmologys, however: All Great Wheel, All the Time.
