Well, trimming what was there yesterday to what's there now is a sad (but unsurprising) turn of events.
I mustve had a premonition when I was taking a leak this afternoon and I randomly thought to myself, watch WotC pull some B.S. and remove a good portion of the free rules. Guess I saw that on my BINGO Card today. They should have at least said this is a limited time preview, and if someone screwed up and uploaded this by mistake, they should say that. Disappointing to say the least. I hate them again, another 180, JK :ROFLMAO:

Hmm.

Embrace the Shared Story. D&D is about telling a story as a group, so let the other players contribute through the words and deeds of their characters. Encourage players to engage by asking them what their characters are doing.
And then...
Step 1. Focus on the story of the adventure. Read or reread the adventure’s introduction and background information. Create a bulleted list of key plot points to make sure a coherent story unfolds.
Still very much in the realm of the impossible thing before breakfast, then. I didn't have high expectations of this book, but I might actually prefer the 2014 book's scattershot approach to straight-up telling DMs to railroad their players.

Some of the other advice isn't bad, but then you get stuff like this:
Hidden Die Rolls. Hiding your die rolls keeps them mysterious and allows you to alter results if you want to. For example, you could ignore a Critical Hit to save a character’s life. Don’t alter die rolls too often, though, and never let the players know when you fudge a die roll.
Yes, please do encourage my DM to fudge the dice and lie to me.
