D&D (2024) Experienced DMs, how useful is the 2024 DMG to you?

It’s exactly what I thought it would be: aside from the surprisingly interesting (only tried it in a couple sessions so far) new CR guidelines, it’s basically a nothingburger if you’ve been playing for more than five years.

I just don’t want a book of advice in 2024 when the internet exists. I want tools to play the game you created. And WOTC removed almost all of them (to replace it with Bastions, which I find to be mid at best).

The dude has some interesting ideas. I just don't get jumping into a conversation just to crap on it.
I honestly don't know what you are talking about, the comment was apropos of nothing.

But the ignore feature does work wonders where appeals to reason fail!

If it’s got a functional method to rapidly create NPCs it would honestly be worth it.

The most frustrating part of 5E to me, especially as an old school DM where NPCs were just built similarly to PCs, is how that methodology simply doesn’t work in 5E. I’ve basically resorted to just buying a couple NPC collections on DMsGuild to spec out my games, as I typically run mostly human and demihuman opponents and relatively few monsters.

Or just go back to 2E.

The alternative of course would just be to not respond when you can't really answer the question. We all know your opinion of the game.

You could just, I don't know, let an opportunity to trash a D&D book go to waste?
I'm not trashing it. I just don't think the book will be useful to me. You yourself has said it was intended for new gamers. I'm sure they'll get their money's worth out if it.

I have tabbed the Mobs, Hazards, Traps, and Greyhawk. And of course the magic item section. But for an experience DM. You could copy about four or five pages of the official charts.
