I think it is entirely fair for Goodman to be using Kickstarter/Backerkit as de facto pre-ordering systems...that's pretty standard in the game industry these days, and allows small companies to get the right amount of product to market. I think itnis healthy for the hobby.

Is a 9 Million revenue company "small"? And their latest crowdfunding projects have had goals of 10-40k. So a 9.1 million dollar company cannot front 40k to create something? And that would not even count the money from an actual preorder to cover first run printing.

Yes, a $9 million company is small...? They are literally a mom and pop operation whose main office is next to a grocery store, and in Santa Clara $9 million might cover the lease for that.

it’s not about meeting the goal, it is about planning demand / production. The last three made 236k, 360k, and 450k respectively (assuming KS shows them in order of creation)

Goodman Games delivers. Kickstarter provides them with a net that allows for more production. This is how small game companies work in the 20s, Kickstarter/Backerkit are preorder systems.
