Okay, so learned some new stuff from the stream.

For now will use 2014 SRD 5.1, but depending on timing of release will upgrade to 5.2 SRD 2024 rules if they release in time (which given SRD is almost certain to come out in March will give them time to update the full release). Look for now to have 1 new Neokos subclass and 1 old Solasta subclass for all 12 classes. Races will have to conform to basic humanoid shape races, so I guess no Centuars (but Goliaths and Aasimar have a chance to make it in I guess). Fewer tags, but more depth to them. Less linear progression then Solasta 1, more freedom.

I really hope a second iteration of this game includes a storyline approaching average, if not professional quality. The approach to 5E combat was amazing. The rest of the game was... wow.
I've run some pretty questionable (story wise) D&D games and played some great fun but dumb video games.. It really isn't that important if the gameplay is good.

There have been some AAA games where I had the same reaction to their stories.
Don't get me wrong! I loved the first game. The combat aspect was top shelf. That storyline... and the dialog. Ouch. I'm still buying Solasta 2, though... that's how much I loved the gameplay!

Yeah, I had fun with the game (it was great to try out classes etc that you haven't had the chance to play in actual games before), but the story and writing were pretty middling, and it didn't help that the decision trees weren't as sharp as they might be - you'd quite often trigger dialog out of order if you talked to NPCs in a different sequence to what the game assumed, for instance. And i would have liked to see a bit of a different spectrum of more classic D&D enemies in there - the homebrew evil extradimensional lizardmen were pretty meh.

But considering it was never going to be as polished as a vastly more well-funded product like BG3, you have to make allowances.
