OK look it’s been a while since I read the book but I feel like Long John is always pleasant in demeanor (even if he does unkind things) to Jim, unlike Jod who is now being nasty to the kids. Perhaps I’m just misremembering. I’ll have to get out my copy and reread it.

Silver uses a charming demeanour on everyone. You need to get behind someone in order to stab them in the back.

I have a feeling Jod was deliberately trying to alienate the kids, perhaps for their own protection.

Ultimately I prefer Jod to be a former padawan who went pirate than an inquisitor who went rogue. It goes to show that not all survivors managed to remain good. Which makes the ones who remained good better people, since we now can see it is a choice and they are full-fledged moral beings not just perfect creatures "made of lawful good" without a real moral choice.

One thing that strained credulity for me a bit this episode was how "Yes, I am the Emissary" was good enough to give Jod access to one of the vaults. I mean, yes, it's relatively safe to assume that a person who passes through the Barrier in a Republic Emissary vessel would be a Republic Emissary, but given that we're talking about lots and lots of money here, you'd think the Emissary would still have to show some kind of ID ... or have a special key needed to unlock the vault ... something like that anyway!

He's also holding a lightsaber openly. The droids have even less of a reason to doubt a "Jedi".

I'm not sure this has been discussed yet, but what about the kids' names? I don't think they were chosen by accident.

"Wim" is impulsive.
"Neel" tends to indulge others and follow their lead.
I can't think of any associations with "Fern" but...

"KB", in a universe where so far only droids have been referred to by initials? It suits her personality, and her implants, but even so: ouch!

According to wikipedia, since ferns dont have flowers or seeds, floklore says they ought to exist but only happen in extremely specific and special times. Whoever sees a fern in bloom gets to travel to new strange worlds of the fey.

Not sure how many more episodes there will be - is it 8 total or more? But here are my predictions

• The supervisor isn't the former Pirate Captain. It's a computer or droid. (optional twist, the former Pirate Captain was a droid or became one). Jod said he'd be glad to speak to a real person in the supervisor instead of the droids. So obviously the twist is that he's still going to talk to droids.
• The computer controlling the defense will be sabotaged by Jod, disabling all automated defense ystems, to call in the pirate ship. The kids will remember about the turrets from the other At-something planet and together with their parents manage to save the day.
