D&D (2024) Monster Manual 2025 Aberrations & Oozes Video

Something my beautiful wife just pointed out to me when I was talking to her about the changes of some species from humanoid to aberration or fey and how things like Charm Person and Hold Person don’t work on them anymore and she immediately fired back with “Yeah, but spells like Protection From Evil and Good and Detect Evil and Good now do so it’s a wash.”
Disadvantage on all attack rolls from Fey with a 1st level spell that lasts 10 minutes before trying to clear out the goblin warrens? Yes, please.
Other similar spells like Dispel Evil and Good, Forbiddance, Hallow, Magic Circle, and Planar Binding all fall in the same category but I might have missed some others.
That's a very good point. Everyone was so focused on the spells being nerfed, people forgot that other spells would be buffed.

This is a very important point. It should be pinned or something, haha

It's interesting they mention the Blob of Annihilation as generating so much buzz. Must admit it has also been the monster I have been most interested in learning about too. I think it's good the book has a bunch of new monsters to get people excited.

I would have loved to have seen at least one Archdevil or Demon Prince in the book, Orcus was a great addition in the 4e Monster Manual, the inclusion of powerful unique monsters was often my favourite aspect of the AD&D Monster books and while obviously stat block size limits mean we cannot have 4 monsters per page anymore, the complete omission of Archdevils and Demon Princes from a Monster Manual just always feels a bit disappointing to me.

As someone whose party is currently trying to find a demon and save possessed townsfolk: getting to use all these spells is really cool. My -1 INT cleric normally doesn't get to reveal anything about weird happenings, but when it involves some out-of-plane nasty he turns into a Terminator.

My first MM was the 1e one with Orcus, Demogorgon, Asmodeus, Geryon, etc. So I'm inclined to agree with you even though I understand that most DMs will never use them.
