Getting told by someone on Facebook to, "Do your research" when the media personality whose page it was had already posted verifiable information that supported my opinion; peak stupid.

Apparently there were enough people finding alternative lubricants that the rules now specify that graphite is the only permissible one.

I’ve seen “Do your research” yahoos facing off against RESEARCHERS. One even cited a book written by the very person they were arguing with.

Unfortunately, that level of idiocy predates the internet. One of my friends is a philosophy professor who has taught at multiple institutions, including at least one of the military academies. She’s very good at what she does, having grown up as the daughter of one of the preeminent professors in some of the fields she teaches.

One time, she caught a student using eerily familiar language in a term paper. She picked one of her dad’s books off of her shelf, flipped a few pages, and found identical passages. (My friend had NOT changed her name, and made no secret of whose daughter she was.)

Action was taken.

True. I've seen that as well. That does somewhat beat what I posted about.

In another Facebook thread I had someone, who claimed to be a virologist, stating that vaccines weren't effective at all because a little town in Quebec (pop. a couple of thousand), that had 100% immunization against Measles, had an outbreak of something like 30 cases. Either he wasn't a virologist, didn't understand statistics, or was a doctor with less knowledge of viruses than this Electronics Technologist. I'm voting "not a virologist."

I see people talking smack about the Marbula One and the Marblympics. As a proud member of Team Galactic, I chide all of you -- these are athletes at the peak of their game, doing their best to win and do their supporters proud! The least you can do is show some respect to these fine examples of the sport! Despite such scandals as Red Number 3, I'm still proud of these fine athletes!

The Cub Scouts still have their pinewood derby car races every year all over the country (the 6" long or so wood ones).

The city I live in started a soap box derby style race in 2018 (the kind you sit in).
