D&D (2024) Lycanthropes in the MM

So basically trolls that require silver instead of fire?
Better than generic monsters that get hacked down and have lost the flavor they had for 5 editions.

They also would suffer from trolls u that half damage from a coup de grace won’t be fatal. Silver or magic weapons or spells would be required to finish them off.

I really dislike the new rules for "contracted lycanthropy" in the new stat blocks. I'd much rather have something akin to if the were creature bites someone who is bloodied, they're likely to be afflicted, but not immediately turn them into monsters. The new method is just too gamist for me.

For a human to become a werewolf in Patricia Briggs' Alpha and Omega series, they basically had to be brought to death's door for the transformation to happen. So, to become a werewolf in that series, you had to 'die' as a human and be 'reborn' as a lycanthrope.

"I died, but then I got better."

I mean, if you want to be true to original werewolf lore, you need a magical fur belt given by Satan to transform into a wolf. None of this silver/full moon stuff Hollywood added.

🤷‍♂️ No PC class or race should have a universal immunity, and there should be a chink in their armor somewhere.

And monks are not weaklings - they are as skilled as any other martial character, with innately supernatural abilities.

Also, learn to take a joke.
Yeah dude, if you dump stat strength you are a weakling. Does not matter if you are a monk or a wizard. You are still wearing robes :D
