I expect they were frightened of how the fans would react to a Star Wars movie without Jedi, after Solo.Which makes the cancellation of Rogue Squadron so baffling
Rogue One did quite well without Jedi. So did Andor on the small screen.I expect they were frightened of how the fans would react to a Star Wars movie without Jedi, after Solo.
Whatever you do with Star Wars, you are going to get vitriolic fans who will hate it and do real harm to real people.
Rogue One has a pseudo Jedi, and lots of references to Jedi. The main character has an lightsaber crystal around her neck. And wasn’t universally popular when it came out. And Andor hints that one major character may be a Jedi. And has a space ship with light sabres. It was also cut from five seasons to two.Rogue One did quite well without Jedi. So no references to the Force at all? Seems unlikely.Rogue One has a pseudo Jedi, and lots of references to Jedi. The main character has an lightsaber crystal around her neck. It was cut from five seasons to two partly because Diego Luna didn't want to commit to that long of a series but also because Tony Gilroy didn't think he actually had enough material. Andor Was Originally Pitched As A Five-Season Story, So Why Are We Only Getting Two?Rogue One has a pseudo Jedi, and lots of references to Jedi. I can't recall if anyone mentions the Force in Andor, but it gets talked about numerous times by Chirrut Îmwe in Rogue One. He isn't a Jedi, but he is a follower of the "Church of the Force" or whatever it's called. "I am one with the Force, and the Force is within me." "The Force flows darkly around one who is about to kill." And so on.So no references to the Force at all? Seems unlikely.
I think that's how a lot of fans felt when Lucas made more moviesI felt betrayed by Lucasfilm
In other words, he's a wellness influencer.I can't recall if anyone mentions the Force in Andor, but it gets talked about numerous times by Chirrut Îmwe in Rogue One. This is all based on a serious misunderstanding of the gaming market.Interesting conversation elsewhere.
Basically it was about star wars games and EU. Early 2000's you had a golden age of Star Wars games. 90s also had a respectable effort.
So if the prequels were underwhelming you had KotOR. Jedi Academy, Empire at War etc to keep you ticking over. And the books and comics.
There's been a handful of Star Wars games since 2015 and only 1 or 2 of Them are particularly well regarded.
New Disney cannon no one seems to care that much outside of the Darth Vader comics. Only the Thrawn novels and maybe Lost Stars are well regarded. Zahn I've never read a bad Star Wars novel from him. Some are better than others.
There's no organic enthusiasm between films to keep interest up. Mandatorily has had 1 season in almost 4 or 5 years.
The supporting ecosystem isn't there to the same extent. Disney has had it 13 years now 1991-2004 comparison......
