Spoilers Daredevil: Born Again (Spoilers)

Does it make sense that New Yorkers are concerned about masked vigilantes? In isolation, sure. Does it make sense that they aren't making a bigger deal out of, I dunno, a giant arm sticking out of the earth (not that that ever gets mentioned anymore)? No, it doesn't. It also doesn't make sense that the whole "everyone is dead but now they are back five years later" situation is basically treated as a mild inconvenience, or the the discovery that alien cultures are real and vast and varied isn't treated as a big deal, or gods are literally real, and so on and so forth.
From an earlier post, I do think Matt mentioned the Sokovia Accords were overturned...either in No Way Home, or in She Hulk (I think it was NWH).

To this point, yeah its been such a long standing problem with the MCU at this point that you either just ignore it and move on, or you drop the MCU. The MCU basically deals with the consequences of its plot when its wants to, and otherwise its completely ignored. The snap has 0 consequences, until we see it from Yelena's point of view or the teacher from No Way Home....but otherwise its just a non-factor unless the plot calls for it to be relevant to a particular scene. (I still think an entire tv show dealing with right after the snap would be an amazing premise, there are so so so many stories to tell in that period of time).

The other big problem is "why didn't they call the avengers?" issue. Now its easier now with few of them left, but there was a time when these world ending plots were coming up....and none of the big guns gets called. Now there could be reasons those guys aren't available....but you would at least make the call. And that part gets hand-waved in the MCU a lot, again you either just assume that happens off camera and they deal with it in some logical way that just takes up too much screen time, you ignore it, or you just drop the stories because its the MCUs modus operandi at this point.

I'm very happy MCU realised their lighter take on Matt wouldn't work and returned to something that resembles the Netflix version more.
As a cameo I think it worked well for Matt. That was a time in his life where things were really good. The beginning of born again provides a good reason why it went back into the darkness (which I agree was the better approach for the show as a whole), but I did enjoy letting Matt get to enjoy life for a bit, it was a nice change.

nothing will live down the fact that he did this

But, I mean, that's superhero comics (and now movies) for you. That's why they aren't really science fiction, they are fantasies that are mostly just meant to entertain. If they are going to have meaningful stakes and themes, those either have to be on a personal level, or in particularly ambitious films and comics, by basically working as allegory.

Most superhero films have nonsense plots. A street-level one like this minimizes the nonsense.

Did you know a new Island appeared of the coast of Japan in 2023 and another one near Tonga in 2022.
Even for those who take notice of such things when they happen, Humans have a remarkable ability to move on to the next thing and not live life worrying about floods in Italy or War in the Ukraine.

In a place like the MCU I can believe that a new Island in the India Ocean would be big news at the time, but most people not in the Indian Ocean would then move on. The snap was big news and has been dealt with in later MCU shows, but for most the personal loss is more important now.

As to the Avengers issue, I think thats been explained too - New Cap is a government asset, Wakanda is overseeing others, the rest are gone (dead, retired, incognito)

I dont think the earth undergoing a cataclysmic upheaval and being left with an arm the size of Madagascar sticking out of it is really comparable

Isn't it?

I mean, what level of metaphysical disruption would be required to make you you give up your current life and routine and change everything?

People overuse the idea of "this would change everything." If aliens landed on the lawn of a world leader, obviously it would be a huge news story I would follow, but I'm not going to suddenly quit my job. I'm still going to go play D&D at my friend's house on Thursday. Life goes on.
