Spoilers Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

That's a perennial problem with both alternate universe and alternate timeline stories. Realistically, something as complex as DNA combinations, not to mention relationships and timing of 'encounters', would be so subject to the butterfly effect that nobody conceived after the diverging event would be the same person as anyone in the original timeline.

But the whole point of stories like this is to explore and have fun with different versions of well-established characters, so it's something that just has to be let slide for the sake of the story.
Yeah the series Counterpart explorss red this idea. Some moment creates two exact copies of Earth, but after that single moment they diverge a lot.

TOS did the parallel Earth thing several times, with only one being the Mirror Universe.

S1E8 - "Miri" - A 1940s/1950s Earth where someone created a longevity drug, that mutated adults but not children.
S2E4 - "Mirror, Mirror" - The Mirror Universe episode.
S2E23 - "The Omega Glory" - A 1960s style Earth (at least it was in the distant past" has an apocalyptic war. "E Plebnista."
S2E25 - "Bread and Circuses" - The Roman Empire never fell.

Another episode, S1E27 - "The Alternative Factor", should also likely be on that list, because it technically involved a total antimatter reflection of the 'real' universe. We only got to see two incarnations of the same character, however.

Watching the two-part S3 opening, “The Search”. I vaguely recall Odo meeting the other changelings, so I must have watched at least some of this season when it was new.

I was hesitant to watch “The House of Quark” because I’m not a big ferengi fan, but now I am glad I did. That was a fantastic episode with some real character growth for Quark.

The side plot with the O’Briens was really sweet too. I love how supportive Sisko was.

The wiki page for Grilka’s actress says she had a recurring role on DS9. Anyone know how many more times she shows up? I quite liked her as a character.

IMDB says 2 appearances and that checks with my memory of her.

DS9 is just a gem for world building with the various races - specifically the Ferengi, Changelings, Klingon, Trill, Cardassian, Bajoran, Romulans, Jem'Hadar and Vorta
I’m beginning to see that now that I’m getting into the third season. Just watched the Dax episode, “Equilibrium”, and the Kira episode, “Second Skin”.

Those were both terrific.

Just finished the series. The wrap up was a bit disappointing for me given the Sisko and son Jake relationship, but otherwise ended on a positive note. I may have missed it, but am otherwise disappointed storylines did not continue in other series/formats.

For me, DS9 was the most gritty and war-driven of the ST franchise and had its ups and downs like the other series in the universe.

My personal favorite episode: S4.E2 The Visitor
