Masters of the Universe | Official Trailer

This is not how I remember the cartoons of my youth, but it looks like fun!

Sidenote: The first Masters of the Universe (1987) movie wasn't much like the cartoon either...

This looks much better than I thought it would be. I think the twist of Adam being sent to earth as a child is a good one.

Fisto looked cool - I wonder if they'll still call him Fisto, that name could have more issues than He-Man does (and I'm sure He-Man will get a joke hung on it somewhere (quite possible the whole thing with him unable to pull the side from the statues hand)

I think He-Man is a bit more of a cartoon thing for me than a live action one, but I did like the 80s version. This new trailer doesn't really catch me, though - somehow it looks a bit too clean (there's a bit of an AI-generated CGI vibe to for me). Maybe it'll still be fun to watch, though.

Not feeling the Eternia-Earth link. As with the 80s one I ask myself, why? If they need to link He-Man to Earth then don't bother, you're missing the point. Seems like one of those properties that will never get a good big screen adaptation. I can hear the Thundercars Movie mewling, spinning in circles until it finds a cozy place to sleep.

Wasn't the cartoon first, made specifically to sell the toys?
In the original toy line, each action figure (definitely not dolls) came with a comic book. It was thought boys needed something explaining the lore to keep them interested in the product. Those comics were quite different from the cartoon, with He-Man being a more Conanesque, savage barbarian armed with an axe and no Prince Adam alter-ego. Adam was Filmation's idea because "kid's love secret identities."

Unlike the 80s MotU movie, at least this one isn't set on Earth for the entirety of the movie. I've never actually seen the original live action MotU movie.

You're not missing anything major if you never bother to see it - even by 1980s standards its bad and has very little to do with the cartoons, comics or toys.
